Bio: Barbara Wall Lobosco

Barbara Wall Lobosco has twenty-five years of experience serving organizations in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Her background includes consulting to and/or serving as a board member of nonprofit organizations in the human services, housing, youth services, animal welfare and education sectors. Such engagements have encompassed assisting clients with strategy, business planning, marketing and communications, governance and financial sustainability.

Barbara serves as board co-chair of Harvard Business School Association of Boston Community Action Partners (CAP). CAP awards selected Boston-area nonprofits with pro bono consulting services provided by alumni of the Harvard Business and Kennedy Schools. In addition to leading consulting engagements, Barbara also facilitates CAP’s “Brainstorming” sessions in which clients work with a team of consultants to develop an action plan around a particular business issue in the course of a single session.

Barbara’s background in financial services includes serving as co-head of Client Relationship Management and Marketing for institutional investment manager GMO. There she served a client base of endowments and foundations invested in GMO’s asset allocation products and shared responsibility for managing the firm’s client relations efforts. Earlier she was the CFO of a start-up investment fund, MC Baldwin Financial, and audit manager with Ernst & Young (NY). Barbara recently collaborated on the development of a new educational technology series for the MBA market at Harvard Business Publishing, Core Curriculum in Finance.

Barbara engages with clients in the following areas:

  • Strategic planning
  • Marketing and communications
  • Board governance
  • Coaching and facilitation
  • Financial sustainability
  • Organizational development

In Barbara’s view, a successful engagement is one in which the client and consultant have worked together to develop an outcome which is implementable and can begin to be integrated even prior to the conclusion of the project.

Barbara holds an MBA from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany.
